Jr. Coyotes alum, Scottsdale native Savage nets fourth NCHC Rookie of the Week honor of ’21-22 season

Miami University forward Red Savage has earned his fourth NCHC Rookie of the Week award of the season.

Savage, a Scottsdale native, scored two goals Friday as the RedHawks earned a point in the conference standings with a 5-4 overtime loss to then-No. 5 Denver. It was the freshman’s second multi-goal game this month. Savage added an assist Saturday night in the series finale.

Savage, a draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings who was also recently part of the United States’ World Junior team, is a Business Economics major in the Farmer School of Business.

The Jr. Coyotes alum previously won NCHC Rookie of the Week for the weeks of Oct. 18-24, Nov. 22-28 and Jan. 3-9, and has the most Rookie of the Week awards of any freshman in the conference so far this season.
