In last Tuesday’s Beanpot first-round game against Boston University, Newkirk was involved in all three BC goals. She staked the Eagles to a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. Then after the team fell behind 2-1 after two periods, she tallied the game-tying goal midway through the third period. With less than three minutes to play, Newkirk set up the game-winning goal to send the Eagles to their fifth-straight final this week.

On Friday, the Scottsdale native again collected three points, scoring one goal and adding two assists in BC’s 4-4 tie with Connecticut after twice battling back from three-goal deficits. She set up the goals in the second period that got the Eagles’ on the board, and then scored the team’s next goal to pull BC within two goals at 4-2. After Boston College went into the third period trailing by a single goal at 4-3, she set up what proved to be the game-tying goal for the final 4-4 score.

With Friday’s tie, the Eagles outright claimed the 2016-17 Hockey East regular-season title – the team’s fourth-straight regular-season crown.
