United States National Women’s Team coming to Outpost to train, scrimmage NAHL’s Ice Wolves

 

The NAHL’s New Mexico Ice Wolves and Outpost Ice Arenas have announced that the U.S. Women’s National Ice Hockey Team is coming to New Mexico for high-altitude training at Outpost Ice Arenas and two scrimmages with the Ice Wolves.

Starting Saturday, November 6, the U.S. Women’s National Team will have full access to the training facilities at the Outpost Ice Arenas in Albuquerque (6,129-foot elevation) including use of all ice sheets and the Ice Wolves’ unique Hockey Speed Gym as they continue preparation for defending their gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The two scrimmages with the Ice Wolves will be on Monday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. MST and Tuesday, November 9 at 6:30 p.m. MST.

Members of the U.S. Women’s National Ice Hockey team will also be honored guests performing a ceremonial puck drop at 4 p.m. MST on Sunday, November 7 before the home game between the Ice Wolves and NAHL South Division rival Amarillo Wranglers.

The opportunity for the NM Ice Wolves to play against the best female hockey players in the world as they prepare for the upcoming Winter Olympics is a tremendous honor and our team is thrilled to be part of the U.S. Women’s National Team’s path to Beijing.”

“The opportunity to travel to New Mexico for high-altitude training and a set of scrimmages with the New Mexico Ice Wolves is a trip we’re incredibly excited for,” added Katie Million, general manager of the 2022 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team. “This will be a great opportunity for us to continue to prepare for the upcoming Olympics at a high level. We’re looking forward to getting on the ice against a great team and playing in a spectacular facility.”

Tickets for the two scrimmages will be available at tickets.nmicewolves.com. Both scrimmages regardless of final scores will include a 3-on-3 overtime period and shootout as part of the training regimen for the U.S. Women’s National Team. The scrimmages will be available to watch in high definition on HockeyTV.com. Both scrimmages will be available to watch over the air on New Mexico Sports Network on channel 20.5, also in high definition.
