Tempe native, Jr. Coyotes, DYHA grad Butler heading home with ACHA Arizona State commitment
The NA3HL’s New Mexico Ice Wolves have announced that forward Calahan Butler has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for Arizona State University.
This past season, the Tempe native recorded 48 points in 46 games on 25 goals and 23 assists.
“Proud to see the ladder of development working for deserving players like Cal to advance to opportunities in college,” said Ice Wolves head coach Isaac Washburn. “ASU is getting a great player who will contribute in all situations while also being a tremendous human and a great leader and ambassador for their program.”
The best performances of the 2025-26 season from Butler came on Jan. 17 against the West Texas Wranglers when he scored four goals in the Ice Wolves’ 8-4 victory. This was one of two four-point games for Butler last season.
Back home, Butler skated for the Jr. Coyotes, DYHA Jr. Sun Devils and Pinnacle High School.
