Former Bobcats star Dorsey continuing pro journey, signs for ’26-27 with SPHL’s Ice Bears

 

The SPHL’s Knoxville Ice Bears have signed forward Matt Dorsey for the 2026-27 season.

Dorsey enters his fourth pro season—all in the SPHL—and has 141 career games in the league to his name.

An Arizona Bobcats alum, Dorsey joined the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs last offseason, appearing in 30 games while scoring a career-high 11 goals and adding 12 assists. He spent the previous two seasons in Evansville, playing 104 games during that span with 14 goals and 31 assists to go along with 147 penalty minutes. He was a part of the Thunderbolts’ 2025 President’s Cup championship team.

Collegiately, Dorsey spent three years in Canada at the University of Windsor, playing 22 games his final year with five goals and three assists. He joined the Thunderbolts towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign and played in seven SPHL games to wrap up the year.

He spent his junior career in the BCHL and WHL, winning a BCHL title in 2018 with his hometown Wenatchee Wild.
