Fort Wayne Spacemen goalie Austin Schaertel has been named the USPHL Midwest Elite Goaltender of the Week.

Schaertel was great between the pipes as he picked up a win in a 6-1 final over the Chicago Cougars on Oct. 18. The Mesa native turned aside 16 of 17 shots in the road victory.

Back home, Schaertel played for the Arizona Hockey Union, DYHA Jr. Sun Devils and Pinnacle High School.
