Arizona products Atchison, Lewis garner weekly awards from NCDC, USPHL
The USPHL has announced its weekly awards and two players with Arizona connections have earned the honors.
Idaho Falls Spud Kings forward Tyler Atchison is the NCDC Mountain Division Rookie of the Week, while Metro Jets defenseman River Lewis is the Great Lakes Premier Division Defenseman of the Week.
Atchison, a 2006 birth year from Las Vegas who previously played for the Arizona Bobcats, put up a pair of goals and added one assist in the Spud Kings’ series against the Casper Warbirds. Atchison, formerly with the Windy City Storm, extended an active point streak to four games with five points over that span.
A two-year Jets organization veteran, Lewis, an ‘05 out of Chandler, put up a 1-3-4 line overall for the week as the Jets defeated the Columbus Mavericks twice to remain undefeated through nine games so far this season.
Lewis, who played last year with the Metro Jets Development Program, has nine points over eight games.
Back home, Lewis skated for the Arizona Hockey Union, Arizona Bobcats, and DYHA Jr. Sun Devils.
