Arizona youth hockey alum, Chandler native Blessing earns weekly Atlantic Hockey college hockey honor
Air Force senior Guy Blessing has been named the Atlantic Hockey America Goalie of the Week for the second straight week as he led the Falcons to a sweep of Mercyhurst, Nov. 15-16.
In the two games, he stopped 56 of 57 shots against the Lakers for a 0.50 goals-against average and a .982 save percentage with one shutout.
In game one (Nov. 15), he stopped all 23 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season. In the second game, he stopped 33 of 34 to lead Air Force to the sweep. The only goal he allowed all weekend came on the power play. His 33 saves on Nov. 16 are a season high.
The Goalie of the Week award is Blessing’s third of the season and sixth of his career (one as a sophomore, two as a junior and three this season). It is the fourth AHA weekly award for the Falcons this season.
In six conference games this season, Blessing has a 1.01 GAA and a .962 save percentage with a 5-1-0 record.
In his youth hockey days, Blessing played for VOSHA, DYHA, CAHA, AHU and in AHSHA for Hamilton High School, spending the most time with the Jr. Sun Devils and Knights.
