Gilbert native, former Arizona youth hockey star Livanavage chosen for weekly NCHC award

North Dakota defenseman Jake Livanavage has been named the NCHC Defenseman of the Week following UND’s sweep over Minnesota Duluth last weekend.

Livanavage was all over the ice in the two victories over the Bulldogs, finishing the weekend with five points to help the visitors secure the sweep. The Gilbert native put up all of his points via the assist, dishing out a career-high three in Friday’s 7-3 victory before adding another pair of helpers to finish off the sweep in a 4-1 triumph.

The sophomore becomes only the fifth North Dakota defenseman in the last decade to record at least five points in a weekend, joining Garrett Pyke, Jake Sanderson, Matt Kiersted and Tucker Poolman. Livanavage is also only the fifth defenseman to put up at least five points in a weekend against an NCHC opponent since the league began in 2013-14.

The 2024-25 Preseason All-NCHC Team selection currently sits tied for second on the team with eight points (one goal, seven assists) and sixth in the NCHC among defensemen, while his seven helpers are tied with forward Owen McLaughlin for the UND team lead.

Back home, Livanavage played for the Arizona Hockey Union, DYHA, Jr. Coyotes and Arizona Bobcats.
