Mesa native, Jr. Coyotes product Morrell repeats as CCHA Rookie of the Week honoree
Michigan Tech’s Logan Morrell has been named the CCHA Rookie of the Week for the second straight week and the third time this season.
Morrell, a Mesa native, tallied three points at the Coachella Valley Cactus Cup in Palm Springs, Calif., with a pair of assists and the overtime game-winning goal against Holy Cross on Saturday. He had five shots on goal and won .581 percent of his faceoffs, leading the Huskies with 25 wins in the two games.
Morrell is tied for the team lead with nine goals which ranks second overall in the CCHA and second in the NCAA amongst freshmen. He is also third in the CCHA in faceoff winning percentage (.570).
In Arizona, Morrell starred for the Jr. Coyotes.
