Mesa product, Jr. Coyotes alum Morrell earns national monthly award, weekly, monthly CCHA honors
Michigan Tech freshman forward Logan Morrell has been named the Hockey Commissioners Association’s Co-Men’s National Rookie of the Month for December, as well as the CCHA Rookie of the Month.
Morrell scored a CCHA-leading six goals and added one assist for seven points across six December games for the Huskies, producing a plus-6 rating.
The Mesa native recorded 14 shots on goal and had two blocks defensively. He notched at least one point in four or six games, including two multi-point efforts at Bemidji State on Dec. 13-14. In the face-off circle, he won 55 of 106 draws (51.9%).
In addition, Morrell was tabbed CCHA Rookie of the Week today as he scored the overtime-winning goal for MTU in the Great Lakes Invitational third-place game on Monday, capping a week in which he also recorded five shots on goal and finished with a minus-1 rating.
Back home, Morrell skated with the Jr. Coyotes.
