Scottsdale native, Jr. Coyotes grad Middendorf takes home weekly Big Ten honors
The Big Ten announced Tuesday that Michigan State forward Erik Middendorf has been named the Third Star of the week.
Michigan State is coming off a sweep of Wisconsin at Munn Ice Arena last weekend.
Middendorf had a career night against Wisconsin on Friday as the Scottsdale native produced a four-goal outburst, MSU’s first four-goal performance since January of 1998 when Sean Berens scored four times in a 6-1 win over Northern Michigan. His single-game performance puts him in a tie for 10th in the Big Ten in goals (4).
He has a 4-1-5 scoring line over 10 games and is the only player in the country to net four or more goals in a game this season.
In Arizona, Middendorf skated for the Jr. Coyotes.
