Scottsdale product Newkirk selected Hockey East Warrior Co-Player of the Month
Hockey East announced Friday that Boston College sophomore forward Makenna Newkirk is the Hockey East Warrior Co-Player of the Month for January.
Newkirk posted 12 points on six goals and six assists in January. She recorded at least one point in eight of BC’s nine games, and has brought a seven-game point streak (11 points) and a four-game goal streak (six goals) into February.
The Scottsdale product collected three multiple-point games last month, culminating with a three-point effort in the Eagles’ 3-2 win over Boston University in the first round of the 39th Annual Beanpot on Jan. 31. A week earlier, Newkirk scored three of Boston College’s six goals in the road sweep at Vermont, including the game-winning goal in overtime on Jan. 20, and the game-winning goal on Jan. 21.
Newkirk is the Eagles’ scoring leader with 33 points. In Hockey East action, Newkirk ranks third in scoring with 25 points.
