The USPHL has announced that Fort Wayne Spacemen goalie Austin Schaertel is the Midwest Elite Division Goaltender of the Week.

Schaertel was outstanding in his lone appearance on Dec. 20, making 12 saves in a 17-1 victory over the Chicago T-Rex.

Back home, the Mesa native played for the Arizona Hockey Union, DYHA Jr. Sun Devils and Pinnacle High School.
