Bonaldi brothers, also Bobcats, Jr. Coyotes grads, garner monthly awards from USPHL

 

Las Vegas Thunderbirds teammates and brothers Nick Bonaldi and Anthony Bonaldi have been named January award winners in the USPHL.

Nick Bonaldi is the Pacific Division Defenseman of the Month, while Anthony Bonaldi is the Pacific Division Goaltender of the Month.

The 2003-born Nick Bonaldi made his return to the T-Birds with a vengeance, posting a 1-8-9 line in the eight games he played this past month. The 2020-21 All-Star is back where he was last year with a plus-5 rating. He also blocked 10 shots.

Anthony Bonaldi, a 2001 birth year, posted the Pacific Division’s best save percentage for the month of January at .925 after he stopped 174 of 188 shots in a span of just four games. At the USPHL Winter Showcase, Bonaldi had an impressive 30-save win over the Fort Wayne Spacemen. He also stopped 47 of 50 in a victory against the San Diego Sabers after returning back to the West Coast. Bonaldi pushed the Mountain Division-leading Utah Outliers to overtime, stopping 50 of 54 shots as well. He stands at 10-6-1-0 with a .910 save percentage on the season.

During their youth hockey days, both played for the Arizona Bobcats while Anthony Bonaldi also spent time with the Jr. Coyotes.
