The USPHL has announced that Austin Schaertel of the Fort Wayne Spacemen is the Midwest Elite Division Goaltender of the Week.

Schaertel went 1-0 on the week, stopping all 11 shots he faced Dec. 13 to secure the win against the Chicago Cougars at the USPHL Chicago Showcase.

Back home, the Mesa native played for the Arizona Hockey Union, DYHA Jr. Sun Devils and Pinnacle High School.
