Recent golf tournament recognizes legacy of Jim Rogers

The First Annual Jim Rogers Memorial Golf Tournament was held on back on May 2, 2021 at Stonecreek Golf Club in Phoenix.

rogers_golf3The tournament was held in honor of Jim Rogers, who passed away in October 2020. Rogers was the owner of AZ Ice Arcadia and was dedicated to Arizona youth hockey for over three decades.

The Valley of the Sun Hockey Association (VOSHA) Arizona Titans established the Jim Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund in his honor to provide financial aid to aspiring young hockey players.

Deemed a success, the tournament had 148 golfers, 60 raffle donations and over 30 sponsors participating in the inaugural event. Jamie Gearig, VOSHA’s fundraising chairperson, did a wonderful job of getting this event organized. The Titans are thankful for all the volunteers, staff, sponsors and participants that helped make this an amazing experience.

The event was so successful that VOSHA was able to offer financial assistance to a total of nine youth hockey players – four Titans players and five additional development-level players across Arizona. This financial assistance pays a portion of the player’s fees for the 2021-22 season.

The Titans are looking forward to the Second Annual Jim Rogers Memorial Golf Tournament that will be held May 1, 2022 at Stonecreek. It will be another day of fun in the sun and to remember Jim Rogers.

Please email the fundraising team at fundraising@aztitanshockey.com if you would like to become a sponsor for this incredible event.
