The USPHL has announced that Fort Wayne Spacemen goalie Austin Schaertel is the Midwest Elite Division Goaltender of the Month.

Schaertel posted a fantastic January for the Spacemen, going 4-0-0 with a .946 save percentage and 1.82 GAA. He was consistently sharp, controlling rebounds and maintaining excellent command of the crease in every appearance.

Back home, the Mesa native played for the Arizona Hockey Union, DYHA Jr. Sun Devils and Pinnacle High School.
