Former Arizona hockey-playing sisters scoring goals in local real estate market
For Reagan and Morgan Briggs, hockey was their passion growing up playing for the SheWolves girls hockey association.
As the years have gone on, that passion turned into real estate for the Scottsdale-based sisters.
“Although I miss playing immensely and have been thinking about making an adult league comeback, real estate is truly my passion,” Reagan said. “The intensity level that hockey and real estate hold are very comparable, and both equate to being exceptionally enjoyable. I work well under pressure, whether it was helping kill a penalty or nowadays beating out 20 other offers.”
“Both hockey and real estate are so different, it’s hard to choose,” added Morgan. “I am an adrenaline junkie so whether it’s being on the ice in a game or chasing that ‘clear to close’ signal, I’m always having fun. I do miss playing hockey regularly, but now my time goes to my career. I wouldn’t have it any other way, though.”
The sisters run AZHockeyHomes.com, a website that aims to provide individuals with an interest in hockey “a support system to achieve their real estate goals.”
“Whether you are a diehard fan or you used to play professionally for 20 seasons, Morgan and I provide the real estate expertise needed to help you score big when it matters most,” Reagan said. “Another goal behind this program was to be there for families in town from a tournament. We have all heard the story: a hockey family is in town from Minnesota where it’s 10 degrees below zero and are getting to Ice Den Scottsdale where it’s a sunny 72 degrees in winter. Who wouldn’t want to move here?
“Morgan and I are true relocation specialists who deal with many out-of-state and out-of-country clients. One of the most exciting families we’ve been able to assist is the Bernier family, founders of the SheWolves. They truly helped grow girls hockey in Arizona as well as further our own playing careers.”
Morgan added to her sister’s real estate goals.
“While I have worked with some professional athletes, working with a professional hockey player is on my to-do list,” she said. “With this campaign, we plan to give current and former players the correct tool kit to make their hockey home dreams come true. Whether you’re an athlete or not, we are here to help. Our one rule is that you just have to love this amazing sport.”
As far as hockey goes, both the Briggs sisters started at the age of six.
“We started hockey after our loving parents, Jack and Susan, gave us the opportunity to participate in such a life-changing sport,” Morgan said. “With this opportunity, I learned very early on what ‘team’ meant. We were fortunate enough to be founding members of the SheWolves organization, a group that we played with during most of our hockey experiences. In this career, I quickly learned that who you work with definitely matters. I am fortunate enough to work with a group of professionals, in Arizona and throughout the country, to create the best experience possible for my clients.”
“We went from spectators to players when we told our father, also our favorite coach we have ever played for, ‘Why should we watch when we can play?’ said Reagan. “This led us into the USA Hockey Learn To Skate with Larry Gibson and then into the SheWolves organization with Stephanie and Cedric Bernier. After playing hockey for nine years, I truly learned that the work ethic one obtains while in this sport is unparalleled. The grit and determination one has to have in order to excel at hockey creates a foundation that easily transitions with one into the work force. Being in real estate, you are your own boss. You decide your own destiny and if you will fail or succeed.
“Having this hockey-related work ethic has truly assisted in making my real estate business a success.”
Reagan works in Arizona with trusted referral specialists elsewhere, while Morgan is licensed in additional states.
Down the line, both have reachable goals and want to keep advancing their careers within the next five years.
“Five years seems so close yet so far away,” Morgan said. “I hope to be either in a branch manager position or hosting my own Bay Equity North Scottsdale branch. Either way, my other goal is to obtain my broker’s license while adding more states to my repertoire. Overall, I want to grow my brand and business throughout this wild yet incredible adventure in the mortgage industry.”
“In five years, I hope to be in the top one percent of agents nationwide while also working to obtain my Arizona broker’s license or an agent license in another state,” added Reagan. “Truth be told, expansion in the industry is the goal. With AZ Hockey Homes, I truly hope that we can extend this venture throughout more of Arizona while also expanding into more states and even additional countries as my brokerage Engel & Völkers is globally recognized.
“The quote that comes to both of our minds when considering the next five years is by real estate legend, Ryan Serhant, who said, ‘Expansion always, in all ways.’
