Jr. Coyotes product, Glendale native Griebel signs first pro contract with ECHL’s Icemen

The ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen have signed defenseman Trevor Griebel.

A Glendale native, Griebel scored his first professional goal in his first game on March 14 against the Florida Everblades.

Griebel played NCAA Division I hockey for Merrimack from 2022–25.

As a freshman, he appeared in nine games and scored his first collegiate goal against UMass. In 2023–24 across 19 games, he recorded two goals and four assists for six points, finishing the season with a team-best plus-5 rating. He returned to the Warriors in 2024–25 and played 25 games, recording one goal and four assists for five points.

For the 2025–26 season, Griebel transferred to Long Island, where he served as an alternate captain and in 30 games, recorded two goals and 18 assists for 20 points.

Back in Arizona, Griebel skated for the Jr. Coyotes.
