Jr. Coyotes alum, Scottsdale native Bottrill makes NCAA D-I commitment to Brown

Maryland Black Bears forward Ryan Bottrill has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Brown University (ECAC Hockey).

Bottrill, a 2002 birth year, is in his second season of playing in the NAHL and third season of junior hockey overall. The Scottsdale native is currently leading Maryland in scoring with 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 10 games this season with his 13 points currently ranking tied for second among all NAHL scorers.

“I want to thank everyone in the Maryland Black Bears organization,” Bottrill said. “I have loved my time in Maryland so far. I’m very grateful for the staff in Maryland for giving me this opportunity. My coaches and teammates have believed in me and given me nothing but support this year. We have a special group and I am very excited to see what we will accomplish the rest of the season. I’m very excited to go to such a prestigious school and hockey program, and look forward to the future.”

“This is what it’s all about,” added Maryland head coach Clint Mylymok. “Ryan was very deliberate before he chose to come to Maryland, and in the end, believed the Black Bears and the NAHL would provide the right opportunity for him to play NCAA Division I hockey. Well, mission accomplished. We are proud of Ryan, and extremely happy for this young man. His future, on and off the ice, looks very bright.”

Bottrill made his junior hockey debut in the NAHL with the Janesville Jets during the 2019-20 season, recording six points in 33 games played. He has also played in the USPHL for the South Shore Kings.

During his youth hockey career, Bottrill skated for the Jr. Coyotes.
