Cortland freshman goaltender Hunter Hein has been named the SUNYAC Rookie of the Week for the week ending Jan. 7.

In his lone start of the week, Hein turned aside 29 shots in Cortland’s 5-2 nonconference victory last Tuesday night at Manhattanville. Hein stopped all 14 shots he faced in the third period for the Red Dragons.

For the season, the Peoria native has posted a 3-0-0 record with a 2.00 GAA and a .934 save percentage.

During his youth hockey days, Hein played for the Jr. Coyotes.
