Scottsdale native Newkirk chosen seventh overall in NWHL Draft
Scottsdale native Makenna Newkirk was selected seventh overall by the Connecticut Whale in today’s NWHL Draft.
A former Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Newkirk has racked up 170 points so far in her career at Boston College.
“Makenna is a premier player on one of the premier teams in the country,” said Whale coach Ryan Equale. “A consistent offensive performer throughout her high school and collegiate career, Makenna plays the style of hockey we look for from our players.”
This season for the Eagles, Newkirk has compiled seven goals and 21 points in 20 games as a senior.
